Celebrating Wendell Bonafacio’s 34 years of success at Curaçaose Wegenbouw Maatschappij

On September 7th, 2023, a special event was organized to honor Mr. Wendell Bonafacio, the esteemed director of Curaçaose Wegenbouw Maatschappij (CWM), on the occasion of his retirement after an impressive 34-year career with the company. Mr. Bonafacio, also known as the director of Bonairiaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij (BWM), brought together approximately 200 clients, partners, and colleagues to bid him farewell and celebrate his well-deserved retirement.

The evening began with heartfelt words from Mr. Bonafacio, reflecting on his long and successful career at CWM, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, dedication, and continuous growth during his 34-year tenure.
The event also included a moment of remembrance for the late colleague, Mr. J. Sprockel, honored for his warm personality and excellent collaboration with colleagues and clients.

Bonafacio, widely respected in the industry, has had a remarkable career at CWM. His dedication and contributions to the company’s growth and development have been invaluable. Over his 34-year tenure, he led numerous projects that contributed to Curaçao’s infrastructure development and growth.

Some of Bonafacio’s notable projects include sewage and pipeline installation to reduce pollution on the southern coast, the realization of an international drag strip in Brievengat to promote sports and tourism, a successful renovation of the historic pontoon bridge, infrastructure development for windmills to support alternative energy, installation of artificial turf fields for high-quality sports facilities, and the replacement of thousands of water meters to reduce water loss and improve distribution.
In addition to his professional contributions, Bonafacio actively participated in social initiatives, including his role as treasurer at the Stichting Signaal Sosial, contributing to the fight against poverty in Curaçao and the former Antillean islands.

Bonafacio’s retirement marks the end of an era for CWM, but his legacy of dedication and excellence will live on in the company and the community. He will be missed by colleagues, partners, and friends he has met throughout his long career.
Janssen de Jong Curaçao & Bonaire wishes Mr. Bonafacio a well-deserved retirement filled with happiness and fulfillment. As we respectfully look back on his rich career and wish him a retirement full of joy, health, and new adventures, we are excited to continue his work’s legacy under the leadership of our new director, Mr. Pierre Montesant. We are ready for a new phase of growth and development.
